Wednesday was eventful. I finished the dress I started the other day, its the first dress I have made without a pattern. Its made from denim, but I didnt like the right side of the fabric (thought it looked sort of matronly for a dress) so I used the wrong side and really like the way it looks. I used an existing dress that I love and sorta just “copied” its shape. changed the sleeves, neck line, length, hem etc etc and viola I have this….
I dont have a dress form so I still need to make some adjustments in the tummy, ribs and shoulders but they are easy fixes as soon as I get my hands on a form I will alter it. so for now it is what it is. but I must say it is COMFY! after my early morning sewing we took the girls to Fort Pulaski. its our favorite place to walk around during the winter. the girls were not interested in having their photos taken but we managed to sneak a few.
wheezy did not appreciate the wind

Abby enjoyed sniffing around for creatures

After seeing this dress completed in person, I’m so impressed and would really like one of my own! I think that the addition of the cowl neck was definitely an upgrade and gave it a lot more personality – as do the vintage buttons! If you end up wanting to try to make one in a different size, I’m a willing volunteer! I’m thinking that maybe I could get a black denim so that it would be just a tad dressier and I could wear it to work…and maybe some bright yellow or red buttons?
I saw this dress on you and it is just wonderful. The buttons set the dress off!! Great job!! All you have to do now is make 2 mini-me dresses for the girls.
You are endlessly talented! What does it look like on? I didnt know you could bring dogs out there, I wonder if Sawyer would enjoy that….. Whats up with the quilt squares for Open House?
i LIKE that dress!!! i’d like to see a photo of it on you though, to give me more an idea of what it looks like!
