so I am to make a 9 patch quilt. there will be nine squares that have nine pieces within it. I am not a fan of these traditional style of quilts and I wanted to come up with a design that would use the massive amounts of small seams as texture and change the overall pattern with color. these are my sketches and some math. I am enjoying this type of planning. My friend S.Kaye has a very similar approach to hers.. check it out here S.Kaye

these two units are examples of how I am using color to accentuate different blocks in each unit to create focus of an overall pattern of color instead of the nine units with nine blocks

I should be working on it tonight and tomorrow. I have some ideas about a border… I am hoping that it is actually do-able. *each “unit” will be 12″x12″ but in the end it will be a bit bigger than that. I will post as this progresses
its finished! see the post here

This looks great! I love that you are creating texture with small seams, the empty white space will look so great with that, and the geometric blue lines are going to really pop against it. There are so many possibilities I had such a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to do. Its endless with the 9 patch!
